I have a very special Sunday Spotlight today. Thianna Durston is stopping by on her Release Tour To celebrate the re-release of her All They Ever Needed trilogy. I read this trilogy when they were first released, and I fully admit they are favorites of mine. I’m thrilled that they are available again. One of the things I most enjoyed about them was the way they explored both sexual spanking and domestic discipline without confusing the two. I don’t want to give away too much so I will let Thia explain.

Hello! And welcome to the Release Tour for the rewritten and rereleased All They Ever Needed trilogy. If you haven’t read Logan & Christian’s tale, this is a perfect opportunity to do so.

In many ways, Domestic Discipline is used in genre literature as a way for spanking enthusiasts to get their fill. It is so much more than that. One thing people who only read it find confusing is that in a DD or D/s relationship, the top in a sexual/kink context is not necessarily the top in a discipline context. In fact, it shocks some people.

The fact is who you are in a kink/sexual context and who you are is a relationship context don’t have to match up. Not all people are Dominant Tops or Submissive Bottoms. Some are, but not all. In the case of Logan & Christian, we have such a switch. Logan is the top in his and Christian’s spanking kink. He loves to spank Christian’s rear end… it totally turns him on. However, the thought of spanking for discipline? He can’t see himself doing it. Besides, he happens to need discipline from time to time to help sort out his head. For Christian, he loves having his rear end set on fire by a spanking. And as he comes out of the horrible place he’s in at the very beginning of the series and finds himself, it turns out he’s the right man to help Logan when he needs it.

The first three books in the series are available as separate novels and as a boxed set. (They are meant to be read in order.)

Excerpt: (This snippet is from Took My Breath Away. Christian still doesn’t completely understand how spanking as part of DD and spanking as a kink separate.)

The paddle came down as Logan pushed the last few beads in, changed their direction by pushing up toward Christian’s tailbone, and then yanked them out, several of them rubbing against Christian’s pleasure spot.

A cry ripped from Christian’s lips and his body twitched and jerked as he rode out his orgasm, stars appearing briefly in front of his eyes before he went completely limp and could not move.

He felt two strong arms pull him somewhere, and the low and steady breathing of the man who was now lying underneath him. Christian couldn’t speak at first. When he did, he blurted out the first thing that came to mind. “I can’t do it, Logan.”

There was a momentary pause before Logan replied. “Do what, baby? Have sex?”

“No, no,” he said, shaking his head. “Give that up.”

“Christian, you’re confusing me. Why would you think about giving up being spanked?”

Shivering slightly, Christian blinked his eyes, surprised to find the two of them under the covers, curled up to one another. “I asked your parents about domestic discipline while you were in New York.”

When he did not go on, Logan nodded. “I know. Both of them told me. But I still can’t connect the dots. Why would domestic discipline make you think we would give up spanking?”

Taking a deep breath, Christian shook his head. “Gregory said that I appeared to be more of a leader and you more of a follower, which would make me the spanker and you the spankee, and Logan, I can’t give that up. It—” Christian cut off quickly when Logan began to chuckle. “It’s not funny.”

“I’m sorry,” Logan said, not trying to cover his laugh. “That’s what you’re worried about, baby? Spanking for sexual gratification, which is what I do to you, is completely different than spanking for discipline. Some people do both. I, unfortunately, know my parents do. But they don’t have to.

“What else are you thinking about? I’ve been home for weeks so I can assume you have a lot of questions.” Logan leaned forward and kissed him lightly. “I’m sorry I didn’t bring it up earlier. Dad told me I needed to and that I needed to look inside of myself to see what role I needed, rather than the role I expected to play.”

Letting out a huge whoosh of air, Christian nodded. “It scares me.”

“The whole concept?”

“No. I see your parents and how it works with them and they love one another intensely. It’s… as crazy as this sounds, Logan, I was brought up to be a gentleman. The thought of hitting you, of causing you pain? It’s unconscionable.” Christian closed his eyes, knowing how that sounded. “That probably sounds stupid, considering what I like and want you to do to me.”

“I understand. They’re two different things for us, Christian.”

Figuring, as they were getting it all out there, that he might as well spill everything, Christian added, “I know Gregory spanked you the night we were in New York. I don’t understand why and it bugs me.”

“Oh, baby,” Logan said softly, hugging him tightly. “Why didn’t you say something?”

“I wasn’t quite sure how. How do you say to the man you love, ‘Why did your father spank you?’” Christian managed not to wince when his mind added, That’s my job.

As Natural as Breathing – Book One

For Christian Darringer, life isn’t worth living. Just back from the Middle East—scarred and with permanent damage to one leg—he doesn’t think anyone will want him for anything. He didn’t plan on meeting someone he can’t stop thinking about. Pulled toward the startling younger man, he begins to question a lot of things—especially his sexuality. Not one to hide from a challenge, he plunges ahead only to find himself more than just attracted to Logan.

Logan Mannette has almost everything he ever wanted: loving parents, happiness, friends, and security. The only thing missing is the love of his life, a love just like his parents have. When he meets Christian at a party, everything changes. Instantly attracted, he does his best to help the sad man and quickly finds himself feeling more than he has ever felt before. Raised in a domestic discipline household, he holds that ideal as what he wants. His interest in spanking has become a fetish and when Christian admits he wants to be spanked, Logan believes he might have found the perfect man.

Just as everything begins for them, Christian’s past intercedes and one of his brothers makes waves about him dating a man. When it lands Christian in the hospital, he is forced to reevaluate their budding romance. Being with Logan might feel as natural as breathing, but if it costs Christian everything he cares about, is this new relationship worth it?

Took My Breath Away – Book Two

While unhappy to be missing four weeks of Christian’s company, Logan is thrilled to spend a month with his father’s relatives in New York. A naturally gregarious individual, he’s used to winning people over and getting things right. Unfortunately the Mannettes are not what he expects and for the first time in his life, he doubts who he is.

Christian has regained some of his old self-esteem and is taking on new challenges. Besides growing in the relationship he has with Logan, he takes the time his boyfriend is away to learn more about domestic discipline. He learns a little online but it is Gregory, Logan’s father, where he gains most of his information. Including the fact that his natural strength puts him in a position he doesn’t expect.

Logan hits rock bottom and Christian runs to the rescue. He saves Logan from New York, but puts their relationship in a new sort of peril. When the dust settles, who will be left on top?
