For today’s excerpt, I’m continuing the scene I’ve been sharing for the last several weeks. Several of the ladies from Corbin’s Bend have come over to help Lainie get moved in, but first, they’re getting to know each other over coffee and conversation. Lainie is new to DD, but she’s getting a quick crash course in the day-to-day reality from her neighbors in Corbin’s Bend. This excerpt follows directly from the one I shared on #WIPitup. You can find that one here if you missed it.
“No, it’s fine,” Cadence assured her. “We’re pretty open with each other. That’s one of the advantages of living here, being able to talk openly about your relationship with people who understand. You don’t have to worry about what people might think. To answer your question, yes, he would.”
“For coffee?” Lainie repeated incredulously. It seemed like such a small and insignificant thing to be in trouble for. Even the language was bizarre. In trouble was something she associated with her students and her children, not with grown women, yet the three women around the table talked openly about it as though it were perfectly normal.
Don’t forget to check out the other offerings on the blog hop. You can find them here. This excerpt will continue on Wednesday, and guess what, in 28 days you’ll actually be able to buy the book and read the whole thing! 🙂 Not much longer now.
